Westview Centennial was founded in 1967. The reason for Centennial being added to the school's name is for the reason that the school was built 100 years after Canada had claimed it's independence from England.
Westview Centennial is located near the Jane and Finch district. Westview is well known for its number of extracurricular activities in which students can participate in. These clubs include the Radio Westview team, Students in Action, the Student Council, the Chess Club, the Fitness Club, Westview Eco-Schools' Club, the Homework Club, the Library Club, the Math Club, the Photography Club, the Dance club, the Prom Committee, the Robotics Club, the Web Club, the Year Book Club, Brothers Unlimited, the Nelson Mandela Club and the Stage Crew.
Westview Centennial portrays excellence in sports. The most important being basketball, soccer and football.
Westview Centennial is also known for their multiculturalism, celebrating different cultural holiday as a school. It also hosts several themed assemblies throughout the year, where the students can showcase their culture, talents, and skills.
